I recently started a new job which is back in the corporate America realm after 20 years. I never expected to go back into the workforce, however this economy has cut back on our disposable income. Taking time for oneself to get sound healing, a tarot reading or reiki isn’t high on anyone’s priority list in this current state. So here I am diving back into corporate culture which is super weird as someone who actively chose not to watch the news, keep tabs on new tv shows, movies or pop culture in general. But like anything I choose to do I’m jumping back in fully embracing where I am. I’m not sure if this is surprising or not but I chose the beauty industry. For me it’s a surprise because I do not follow trends, but the job itself is a simple one and that’s exactly what I wanted. Let me share my top 10 new favorite finds as I re-enter society’s capitalism spiral. I’m at that age that firming and smoothing creams look appealing. I recently started using The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2%+ B5 Hydrating Serum with Ceramides. They say it’s hydrating but I’m not feeling that when it dries on my skin, however it has changed the texture of my skin. Overall I really like it, more to come after a few months of use.
If The Ordinary hyaluronic acid is too pricey you should check out Trader Joe’s version. This is also light weight and can help with oily skin as it’s very drying.
The Ordinary makes a number of amazing products that I rotate so that my skin doesn’t get too used to anything. If you’re looking for a light weight but heavy lifting facial oil I suggest the Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Oil. Rose hips are one of the best herbs for your face, can reduce fine lines, and is packed with vitamin C, which is skin protecting. A wonderful light weight moisturiser for day or night.
I saved my favorite The Ordinary product for last. I am absolutely in love with their Azelaic Acid 10% Suspension Brightening Cream. Of all the products I’ve tried over the last year this one has made the biggest impact on my skin. It has improved the texture, softness, and pore size. It has helped to reduce stubborn closed comedones ie. white heads.
For everyday use for sensitive skin, big pores, acne prone, oily or easily angered skin I recommend CereVe Moisture Cream as it is at a moderate price. The frugal gal in me loves it as it can be used from head to toe!
If your skin clogs very easily I’m a big fan of the entire line of Origin’s Ginzing products. They gently cleanse and hydrate without fear of breaking you out while they help with fresher, radiant and healthy hydrated glowing skin. This line is also pretty clean so that is always a plus for me.
If you are anything like me, dark circles are the plague of your existence. I found this desperately wandering the aisles of Target one day. Good Molecules Yerba Mate Wake Up Eye Gel is moderately priced and lasts quite a while as you only need a very small amount to cover your under eyes. This product isn’t some TikTok slide of hand trick, it is a subtle helper that does take 20 to 30 minutes to make a difference.
While we are on the topic of Good Molecules you may want to check out their Discoloration Correcting Face Serum. Again this is a decent price for a subtle product it’s not overnight success, you will need to be consistent in use.
Products don’t have to be expensive or fancy to do their job well! I’m a basic kind of toner gal. I know there are thousands of brand name designer toners, but Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting is clean, free of alcohol and perfume and actually tones and removes makeup. I won’t use anything else.
My last facial recommendation is Trader Joe’s Micellar Cleanser Make Up Remover Wipes. Somewhere along the way I saw that these are an excellent dupe for Clinques Make up remover wipes. I can’t truthfully say as I’ve never used them. What I can say is the Trader Joe’s version is one of a very small handful that I can use. My issue is most over dry my skin, make my skin feel slimy, or don’t remove any makeup at all. These do a pretty stellar job at removing my Urban Decay Perversion eye liner.
