Healthy Hair!

healthy hair oils2Let’s talk about hair. Many people at some point come face to face with hair loss. Here I am quickly approaching my 40th birthday; and once again facing thinning and massive amounts of shedding hair. So, what can we do about it? Reducing stress, clean eating, hydration with increased water, and exercise are going to help. There are many reasons why people lose hair, but I won’t go into that. I will however give you some recipes for healthy hair.

Here are some basics that essential oils (eo’s) can help with. I recommend 1 drop of eo to 4 ounce of shampoo or conditioner. For dry hair try adding Rose eo, sandalwood eo, ylang-ylang eo, lavender eo, or geranium eo. For greasy hair try adding basil, eucalyptus, cedarwood, chamomile, lemongrass, cypress, sage or rosemary. For overall healthy hair try adding lavender, peppermint, cedarwood, geranium, chamomile, clary sage, or copaiba.

Dandruff helper – Use 10 drops lemon eo, 5 drops lavender, 5 drops peppermint eo, 4 drops rosemary eo, 3 drops cedarwood eo, and 3 drops copaiba eo in a 30 oz natural shampoo.

Thinning hair use 4 drops rosemary, 4 drops cedarwood, 4 drops lavender, 4 drops thyme, and 2 drops basil or 2 drops sacred frankincense, 3 ml of jojoba oil, and 20 ml of grape seed oil. Combine and massage into scalp before bed.

Hair Loss Mask – Put all ingredients in to a mixer and give it a good whip. 10 drops of each Clary Sage, Cedarwood, and Rosemary, 1 banana, and 1 Tbsp Honey. Apply to hair, the cover with a shower cap for 15 minutes. Then shampoo and condition as normal. I would suggest doing this weekly or monthly.
